Saying goodbye

I flew down to San Jose, California on Wednesday to attend the memorial service of George Graham. George was one half of George and Anne Graham. They were our neighbors when we lived in San Jose. They were delightful neighbors.

George and Anne were from Scotland and were full of life, laughter and love. I don't think I can ever remember George or Anne to be anything but joy - filled and loving. They loved to dance, entertain, play at life and travel. They traveled back and forth to the old country every other year and had their relatives over to the States. They cruised numerous times and enjoyed their days aboard ship and on shore. They were great parents to Ron and Douglas (who passed away at nineteen from Cystic Fibrosis) and great grandparents to Ben and Tim.

They drove up from California and stayed with us when we moved up here and had our Bed and Breakfast. I believe the last time we saw them was about seventeen years ago. We did however, keep in touch via Christmas cards and the occasional letter.

George passed away from a heart attack at age 80 on the 25th of November. Anne is devastated, as you may well imagine, her husband of over fifty five years, gone. Please pray for Anne and for the repose of George's soul.

The memorial for George was beautiful - there were over 200 in attendance and he was piped in and piped out again by the Caledonian Club.

Ach George, my fiere - ye woud a loved it!

Auld Lang Syne, fiere...May perpetual light shine upon ye, George.

And may his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace!
