Being Religiously Correct!

An email from a friend of mine stated that at her work place, the employees have been instructed to say "Happy holidays".

How nice...how encompassing of all religions. Or, none at all, for it seems that in Washington State, the atheists have also gotten into the holiday spirit with a sign at our capitol building that is mean spirited to the max.

My friend wrote that she "decided to take Christmas back and will say Merry Christmas to everyone. I'm so tired of people trying to be politically correct but I will now now be religiously correct."

Way to go, friend! And, to all of my readers - may you enjoy this wonderful Advent Season and look forward to having a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We had a visiting priest today, who shared a story with our Parish about a lawsuit in Florida re: Religious Holidays - the atheist that brought the suit said religious holidays were unconstitutional because atheist didn't have a holiday celebrating their beliefs.

The judge threw out the lawsuit citing this opinion: (I'm pseudo quoting here) Atheists do have a holiday. The Bible says that any man who does not believe in God is a Fool. Therefore, the atheists holiday is April 1st, also known as April Fools Day.

I'd never thought of that one... glad the judge did.. Let the atheist plant all their signs annually, on April 1st.

Ah yes I have seen that on the internet - cute!

We need to be mindful of how we as Christians respond to those who do not know God.

(Psalm 14:1) - "The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good"

Since we know that God is no respector of man, we need to encourage those who are atheists to learn about God. Being gentle, loving and kind in our approach. Listening patiently, never arguing but in all keeping Christ as our focus.

God Bless you and welcome Dixie

While I am always in my approach to atheist, I have never met one that was kind back. In fact, I find them quite radical in nature, and they normally resort to name calling and berating... so I basically do my best to stay away from them. Having had a number of encounters, both in person and online, I know why the Bible tells us to "not become unequally yoked". I've been reading your blog from some time.. just decided to post a note today since I had heard the story that related to your post. I enjoy your blog very much.

Dixie - thank you for writing back ... and again, welcome!

I went to your blogs and found them to be wonderful! You are talented with your words, your computer abilities and I for one am JEALOUS! (j/k...cause that would land me in the confessional big time!) There was no place for me to leave a comment though )-:

I try to remember that it is not me that those who are atheists are irritated and angry with - it is God. They cannot stand to know about Him - perhaps due to a feeling of conscience?

I have a 'tradition' that a few friends and I started...and that is to put those who really, really need our prayers and really, really need to "duke it out with God" into the Tabernacle as the priest or deacon is closing it up after the distribution of Communion.

Perhaps you would like to do that, as well.

Blessings -

I looked up the sign that the atheists posted. Frankly, I think Christians should embrace it -- REASONS greetings. Yes! Jesus is the REASON! Can't wait for one to wish me Reasons Greetings :-).

I like that, Julie...because Faith without Reason is not Faith; instead, it is superstition...and Reason without FAITH is not Reason; rather, it is arrogance.
