A note on "On Notice" from Julie

"I read that an insurance company in Oregon last year was refusing certain cancer drugs (as 'experimental') and in the same letter, letting patients know they would pay for termination drugs."

Actually, Julie you are correct...but it was not just any insurance company, it was the state of Oregon that told its citizens that were on the Oregon state health care plan that they would not pay for the drugs necessary for them to combat their disease, but they would pay for them to use the "death with dignity" drugs. That is right - the STATE OF OREGON has bought into this and has decided that it is cheaper to kill its residents than to help them live.

How did we get to where we are now. Pope John Paul II wrote on this very topic in an encyclical called Evangelium Vitae in which he warned against suicide. Prior to that. Pope Paul VI wrote Humanae Vitae, which spoke to the harmful nature of birth control, which gave way to abortion which gave way to "assisted" suicide.

The Church has spoken loudly for years against this downward spiral - it has been, sadly ignored by many, including some who call themselves Catholic.

Lord, forgive us our trespasses -

I miss you, too, Miss Julie!
