Porcelain . . .

My wonderful husband came home in early November with two beautiful porcelain mugs - they are in my china pattern - Old County Rose.

He said he did not want to wait for Christmas to have them. Sweet.

The mugs are of the pedestal type and are fragile, being as how they are porcelain.I am petrified that one will break, so I handle them with kid gloves.

Since they are porcelain the inside of the mugs stain easily. One or two days of coffee, washed out, is not bad, but I have a tendency not to rinse or wash out my mug between use and so the coffee stain becomes evident after two days. Nothing horrid, but definitely in need of a good washing.

Why am I once again thinking of reconciliation? If I repent of my sins when I am conscience of them, I stay pretty clean, like that two day old slightly stained coffee mug. However, if I do not repent . . . well, ugly stuff!

The only way to get rid of the ugly stuff - that sin that is so hard to repent from be it pride or not acknowledging it - well the only way to get rid of that is by a thorough examination of conscience and then to go, confess it . . . yep, right into the confessional, where Jesus Christ is present through the priest and ready to absolve us in the name of the Church.

God reaching out to me, treating me like His Porcelain, cleansing me and loving me. WOW! I so love being Catholic!

If you were any wiser you would burst into a thousand pieces of multi-colored confetti. I am not sure what that means, but what a visual!!!!

Love you - Modesto Sissy

I am in awe of your train of thought; always reminding yourself (and us) of the goodness of GOD, our Father ... and HIS Son, Jesus Christ ... always there to help us come clean ... and head more so on that straight path to Heaven, to be with Them for eternity.
You should write a book. Between your adventure leading to the Catholic Church ... and your hearlding the help She is for Her sheep ... it would be awesome.

I love this comparison of our human frailty to porcelain. And our sins are certainly like those hard-to-get-rid-of coffee stains. Clever! Thank goodness for the elbow grease of the confessional.
