Lent...

Oh Bother!!! Lent!!! What to give up, what to include in my lenten days so that I will grow holier and make good changes in my life...well - I did give up some of my internet surfing...and my desire is to grow holier so that my life is pleasing not only to God, but to those who suffer by me being around!

This lenten season has been a very trying and difficult one emotionally. We had a Rachel's Vineyard Retreat in the midst of it. The retreat was beautiful. When I got home, I was out of commission not for my normal two days, but for a full five days with a very painful back and neuropathy from my bout with shingles nearly four years ago. On the Saturday following the retreat, I woke up without one bit of pain and I was thrilled! Being in pain for so long, one forgets what it is like to be painfree.

Alas, the emotional pain started in on me and I have not been able quite, to shake it yet. Last night I had a great cry. A cry to Our Heavenly Father about my sadness over my familys' shunning of me, the fact that I miss my mother who is not talking to me and the fact that it is lent.

One of my wonderfully spiritual friends told me that other day that a priest had told her "you do not have to give anything up for lent - it will find you and GIVE you something."

I think he is right...

Heading into Holy Week is going to be a breeze, I am sure. Holy Week - well - I am concerned...

Off to pray at the abortion mill in a few. This is our last hour there for 40 Days for Life. I hope that we can make it on Thursdays, the days babies are slaughtered, year round until this scourge on America is ended.
